Building a new swimming pool involves a lot of decisions, but none more crucial than selecting a reputable builder. All your pool research can go astray if your swimming pool builder is incompetent, irresponsible, or worst of all, unethical.Common practices says that you should call at least four builders to get preliminary estimates. But how do you choose which pool builders to contact and then eventually pick?
Get Recommendations and Referrals
Do you know anyone who has a swimming pool? If so,inquire about their experience –the majority of pool owners are more than willing to discuss their experience. They may be able to give you some very good advice that can really help you find the right builder.
If you live in a large metropolitan area, you may also be able to find recommendations from internet forums and consumer websites. Proceed with caution, however, as they’re easily manipulated.
Check Contractor References
If a pool builder is eager to give you a long list of references, that’s typically a good sign. The more satisfied customers a builder can reference, the less likely it is that they’re fabricated. If there’s a bunch references, you probably won’t check all of them, but you should pick a few to call randomly to verify. If it’s a smaller list, that doesn’t necessarily disqualify the pool builder, but you might want to ask some fact finding questions to make sure the references are solid.
